“Hinata-chan? Are you alright?” The brunette asked, knocking on the girls bedroom door. “You were acting so strangely toda-”
“N-Neji…r-really…I’m okay…!”
“May I come in?”
“Ah!! I-I-…Uh….s-s-sure…”
Cautiously, the Hyuuga slid open his cousins door, finding her scrambling to pick up papers off the floor. “What’s all this?” he asked, leaning down the pick up a piece, but Hinata quickly snatched it from his hands.
“N-n-nothing!”
Neji simply watched as the raven haired girl tried to stack the possibly hundreds of papers into a small shoe box. Slamming the lid down on top of it (the box couldn’t even close properly; there were so many papers), she slid the box under her bed and looked down at her lap. “I-It’s nothing…Nii-san, really…” Hinata trailed off as her face deepened in color.
“Hinata, I-”
“Please…d-don’t ask-”
“You missed one…”
Her head shot up to see Neji looking down at a paper at the end of the girl’s bed. Hinata dived forward to retrieve it, but it was already in his hand. She sat there, horrified, as she watched Neji’s clear purple eyes slowly scan the page, drinking in it’s words.
Hinata stared at the floor, her horrid blush not leaving her face, until the paper was returned to her.
“A...love letter?”
The girl looked ashamed.
“All of those papers…unsent love letters?” Neji lightly shook his head. “You’re still so shy after all this time…”
Hinata watched as her cousin slowly left her bedroom, a gentle smile on his lips. “Those butterflies in your stomach can be overpowering, can’t they…?”

As Neji walked into town to meet with his team, he couldn’t stop thinking about the event that had just occurred. He knew his cousin had a crush on a number one hyperactive knuckle-head ninja… but enough to write so many love letters he would never receive?
